Assam: Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah Flags Off Second FlyBig Flight Between Guwahati & Silchar

63 people were aboard the second FlyBig Flight service between Guwahati, Silchar, and Guwahati, which was flagged off by Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Mallla Baruah.

GUWAHATI: On Thursday, 63 people were aboard the second FlyBig Flight service between Guwahati, Silchar, and Guwahati, which was flagged off by Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Mallla Baruah.

Between Guwahati-Silchar-Guwahati and Guwahati-Dibrugarh-Guwahati, FlyBig air services will be offered. On the other hand, FlyBig will get support from the Assam Tourist Development Corporation (ATDCL) through VGF money, and the parties will agree on the daily schedule of flights in both sectors.

Taking on twitter, Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah informed, “In view of upping the regional connectivity in Northeastern region, pleased to flag off the first FlyBig Flight services between Guwahati-Silchar-Guwahati with 63 passengers out of the capacity of 72 passengers onboard this morning. As per the agreement, these flight services will be executed in Non- Udan routes and it intends to have a far-reaching impact on the tourism industry by improving domestic connectivity.”

He further stated, “ATDCL will support FlyBig through VGF funding and weekly operation of flights in both the sectors will be decided mutually by both the parties. These flights will follow a schedule of operating at 7.30 am to Silchar from Guwahati and it will have a return journey from Silchar at 8.30 am every day. This is a very remarkable day for ATDC and I hope this initiative will definitely help in the growth of our region from all aspects.”

In October 2022, Alliance Air launched its flight operations from the Lilabari Airport in the Lakhimpur district in an effort to improve air connectivity in Assam. Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, essentially started the flight service.

Under the UDAN programme of the federal government, flight service was launched from four other Northeastern airports, including Ziro, Shillong, Imphal, and Aizawl. According to reports, the Alliance Air will operate two weekly flights to Ziro and four weekly flights to Shillong.
