SILCHAR: Minister for Water Resources, Social Justice, Empowerment, Information & Public Relations Minister Piyush Hazarika launched the official distribution ceremony of bicycles to Class IX students under the Chief Minister’s Special Project here on Friday. Assam government has launched a statewide programme to provide bicycles to about 3.69 lakh students studying in Class IX in government schools in the state. A total of 24,220 students have received bicycles from the government in Cachar district. Hazarika ,who was on a 3-day visit to Barak valley officially launched the bicycle distribution programme at the police parade ground, Silchar organized by the Cachar administration.
While addressing the students on the occasion, Pijush Hazarika said that Indian citizens have been able to get formal education in India and hold top positions in big companies like Google and Microsoft through hard work.
Citing the example of Cachar District Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha and Superintendent of police Numal Mahhato, Hazarika urged the students to study well for competitive examinations to get positions like IAS, IPS and ACS officers and serve the country and the State.
The minister said that along with getting education and establishment, students should all work with responsibility towards the society and urged the students to move forward in life with responsibility towards their country and nation.
The minister said the present government has constructed several new medical colleges and engineering colleges in the state and many local students have got opportunities to become doctors and engineers. He said the government is working for the development of the students.
Talking at the event Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is working day and night to make Assam among the top most five states in the country and expressed his gratitude towards minister Piyush Hazarika for his initiatives and efforts .
MLA Dipayan also expressed his heartfelt love to the students and urged them to take the benefit of riding bicycles provided them by the State government for their achievements and also to take care of their health so that they can concentrate more on their studies.
Exhorting the students gathered on the occasion, Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai said that on the initiative of the Chief Minister, the provision of bicycles has been made to students as well as to girl students and a total of 3 lakh 69 thousand students are being distributed in the entire state.
He said that the efforts being made by the Chief Minister to promote the state of Assam as the top 5 states of the country and called for everyone’s cooperation. He appreciated the initiative of the Chief Minister in the field of education and said that the condition of Anganwadi Centers has improved considerably so that the students do not face any difficulties.
Earlier, in his welcome address, District Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha explained the purpose and the objectives of the occasion, stated a press release.
