GUWAHATI: On Friday in Assam, two separate road accidents resulted in the deaths of a minor girl and a young man.

In the first accident, a young girl died in Orang after being run over by a tractor. The third-grade child was killed when a tractor hauling soil illegally hit her in the Dhanshree neighbourhood of Orang.

Afsana Khatun has been named as the deceased. It has emerged that the driver's carelessness and irresponsibility were to blame for the catastrophe.

In a separate accident, a biker was hit by a car in the Majuli district and died instantly. Sources claim that the incident occurred on the Phuloni-Bongaon linking road in the neighbourhood, where a car hit the deceased's bike. The dead have been identified as Pahumara resident Chandrakamal Kakati.

Before the police could arrive and apprehend him, the car's driver had already fled from the scene.

A traffic tragedy in Chandmari, Guwahati, on March 8 dampened the spirit of Holi. Initial reports state that the incident took place near Rudranagar Housing Complex.

Observers claimed that the accident was caused by the car's driver losing control. Many have speculated that the collision may have been caused by the driver being drunk. The car's driver and another passenger reportedly suffered injuries as a result of the collision. The Maruti Brezza with the license plate AS 01 DL 2412 was the car that was involved in the incident.

Another accident occurred on Thursday night in Guwahati’s Ulubari area, amid a recent uptick in traffic accidents. Initial reports state that the accident happened late at night close to the Ulubari flyover in Guwahati.

According to accounts, the accident left at least two people seriously injured, including pedestrians who were walking by the overpass in the bustling Ulubari neighbourhood of Guwahati. The injured were taken right away to the adjacent Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the Bhangagarh area of Guwahati.
