JAMUGURIHAT: In a tragic incident, a child identified as Chunu Ghatowar (9) lost his life at Gereki, Sootea, today.
According to information, a speedy Swift Dzire car heading from Dhekiajuli to Biswanath Chariali bearing registration number AS 01 DV6451 lost control and hit the business establishments located at Gereki beside the NH 15. The speeding car broke the post of the business shop, the shutter, and entered the closed shop. Unfortunately, Chunu Ghatowar was sitting on the steps of the business establishment. The speedy car swept him down and hit the post and the shutter of the shop as well. The other three passengers in the car sustained severe injuries. The local people, in association with a team of Sootea police, sent the injured to Biswanath Chariali Sub-divisional Hospital. But doctors declared Chunu Ghatowar dead. The child was from the Bhelowguri area in the northern part of Sootea.
