GUWAHATI: On Friday morning, the body of missing coal miner Pranjal Moran was found in the Tirap colliery in the Tinsukia district. The incident occurred after 65 days since he went missing.

A crew under the direction of IGP (North-East Range) Jitmol Doley extricated the body from the debris. This week, police, the National Disaster Response Force, and the State Disaster Response Force began a search operation in the region’s coal mining area.

"After a thorough search, we were able to find Pranjal Moran's body in the early morning hours. We had trouble finding the body because of the challenging terrain, poor weather, and landslip. The deceased miner's wife has been contacted by phone. The body will be given to the family in the afternoon following the post-mortem and other formalities," says Doley.

On January 6, Moran left for work, then he vanished on February 1. His wife came to see DGP GP Singh here last week with her three-year-old son in an effort to get his assistance after being unable to locate him or learn of his whereabouts. After three months, the body was recovered after Singh gave the IGP the go-ahead to start looking for Moran.

As per information received on Saturday, a man was fatally killed by his own younger brother in Assam's Mariani. Some claim that the event occurred at a tea estate in Mariani when the younger brother brutally hacked his older sibling with a sharp object.

The culprit has been named as Karthik Karmakar, who used a machete to attack his brother, Bobai Karmakar, following a violent disagreement. A police crew arrived at the scene this morning and removed the body.

After discovering the body, the police started an investigation and detained Karthik Karmakar in connection with the heinous crime.
