Assam-Mizoram Tension Heightens Further With School Blast In Hailakandi

A state-run educational institution was severely damaged due to an IED explosion that that took place at Hailakandi’s Sahebmarra region.

Guwahati: Amid all the tension following neighbouring borders, the Independence Day had brought more tension within the two states as they have just heralded truth.

As per reports, a state-run educational institution was severely damaged due to an IED explosion that that took place at Hailakandi's Sahebmarra region along the Assam-Mizoram border.

According to reports, the militant activity was recorded from unsuspecting organizations that been co-ordinated through a moderate-intensity explosion of Improvised Explosive Devices that was carried out was allegedly carried out by suspected miscreants from Mizoram.

Police said, the blast occurred at around 11.30 pm at Sahebmarra LP School. Even though there was a major section of the school allegedly damaged in a severe blow that includes the walls and structural pillars of the primary school in Hailakandi, there are still no reports of any casualties.

It has been taken as a shocking matter before the 75th Independence Day, fresh tension erupted along Assam-Mizoram border in Hailakandi district of Assam after a primary school was bombed by unknown miscreants at Kachurthal area on Friday night, police said.

Hailakandi's superintendent of police (SP) Gaurav Upadhyay said the latest incident happened at around 11:30 pm on Friday but no person was injured. "The bombing was done by miscreants from Mizoram side between 11 to 11:30 pm. The area comes under Ghutghuti police outpost and we have raised the security immediately after the incident. We are trying to ensure that this incident does not create fear among the residents in the locality. We are also investigating the matter and once it is completed, we'll be able to give a clearer picture,"
