GUWAHATI: Akhil Gogoi, an MLA from the state of Assam, denounced the detention of Manish Sisodia on Sunday, saying it revealed the "hypocritical attitude" of the BJP.

Additionally, he asked the opposition parties to speak out against such "fascist inclinations" in the nation.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained Sisodia on Sunday night in connection with allegations of corruption in the creation and implementation of the excise policy for 2021–2022, which has since been cancelled.

"I vehemently condemn Manish Sisodia's detention and demand his immediate release”, Gogoi stated. According to Gogoi, the arrests of leaders based on falsified evidence "clearly reveal the brutal character of the BJP."

The Raijor Dal leader continued, "Arresting the leaders of other parties just reveals the hypocritical attitude of the BJP." Prior to stepping into the active politics, Gogoi had collaborated closely with the Aam Aadmi Party's founders, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, among others.

After the CBI detained the AAP politician on Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjabi counterpart Bhagwant Mann met with Manish Sisodia's family at their residence. Mann criticised the BJP for arresting Sisodia, calling the action an "insult" to the education lakhs of Delhi's youngsters are receiving.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared that, on Monday, rallies will be held across India in opposition to this. Sandeep Pathak, the national general secretary of AAP, announced the demonstrations on Twitter. They are expected to occur in a number of cities, including Delhi, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Rohtak in Haryana, and Noida.

Around 12 p.m. on Monday, the party will hold protests outside the Bharatiya Janata Party's headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in the nation's capital. It is anticipated that the party will also stage demonstrations in Gandhinagar, Gujarat; Rohtak, Haryana; Noida, etc.
