JAMUGURIHAT: ‘Surar Batere’ organized at Jamuguri Bohagi Mela field by Jonak Musical Band was held on Wednesday night. The evergreen and super hit Assamese songs of the 90’s were performed by both senior and junior singers. The musical night was inaugurated by folk artiste and State governments’ artiste’s grant awardee veteran singer Purna Kanta Nath. Senior artiste Ashok Das lit up the ceremonial lamp at the very beginning. Artistes including Karabi Saikia, Bani Kanta Das, Dipa Tamuli, Bodhan Nath, Parth Priyam, Neel Kamal Hazarika among others performed Assamese songs of the 90’s. The conscious people of Jamugurihat praised the initiative of the music band undertaken to preserve the evergreen Assamese songs.
