NAGAON: Nagaon Nagarik Sabha on Tuesday staged a two-hour long sit-in against State government’s step to levy fees on public events as well as excessive taxation and increasing prices of essential commodities across the state near at Nagaon Clock tower Chariali.
Over hundred of agitators including Dr Apurba Boruah, retired professor of North East Hills University (NEHU), Meghalaya, Manorama Sarma, Mousin Hazarika, Abhinash Dutta participated in the stir today. Birinchi Bora, secretary of the Nagarik Sabha mentored the agitation while Amarendra Sarma, president of the organization, Dulal Bora, Ratul Bora the vice president of the organization, Malabika Bora, Arupjyoti Mahanta, assistant secretaries of the organization, Ajit Kakoti, member of Raijor Dal attended the event and spoke on the issues.
