TINSUKIA: Expressing concern over the plight of prisoners who remain confined despite bail orders, the National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau (NHRSSB), in conjunction with the District Legal Services Authority Tinsukia, has undertaken an essential initiative to assist prisoners in overcoming the challenges they face during the bail process.

In a communiqué, the NHRSSB stated that the bail provisions are granted to individuals, accused of crimes to ensure their release from detention while the trial is pending. However, there have been instances where prisoners are unjustly detained due to obstacles in fulfilling bail bond or land document requirements. The NHRSSB in collaboration with the DLSA is extending assistance to prisoners facing difficulties in securing their release despite having received bail orders from the court. The lack of financial resources or the unavailability of appropriate land documents may hinder their release, keeping them incarcerated even after the court’s bail order. This unfortunate situation not only violates their rights but also causes immense hardship for the prisoners and their families. The NHRCCB and the DLSA Tinsukia have set up a dedicated team of legal experts and social workers to assess individual cases. They thoroughly investigate the reasons behind the failure to meet bail requirements and provide appropriate legal advice to the prisoners.

The initiative aligns with the vision of the President of India, who emphasized the need to uphold human rights and ensure justice for all citizens. By providing a helping hand to prisoners unjustly detained despite bail orders, this initiative reflects the spirit of justice and compassion envisioned by the esteemed leader. The NHRCCB and the DLSA Tinsukia will also ensure that prisoners receive the necessary financial support and assistance in obtaining the required land documents.
