Kokrajhar: The National Boro Christian Council (NBCC) has expressed strong resentment over the remarks made by an individual, Satyaranjan Bora that ST status should be withdrawn from Bodo Christian followers. The statement has drawn sharp criticism from various quarters claiming that the individual backed by the RSS was trying to divide the Bodo community which has been living peacefully with different faiths and religions.
In a statement issued by Arjun Basumatary, president of NBCC, and general secretary Apurba Narzary, it was stated that a press release of the officials of Dularai Bathou Gauthum and RSS in Guwahati on July 5, 2022, claimed that the ST status should be removed from Bodo Christians. This was a matter of concern and was an attempt to divide the society.
The NBCC, however, welcomed the statement made by Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) which clarified that Bodos had been living together peaceful with different faiths and religions.
The ABSU condemned the statement of Satyaranjan Bora, president of Kutumb Suraksha Parishad, for trying to divide the Bodos. The NBCC also strongly condemned the statement made by the president of Kutumb Suraksha Parishad, Satyaranjan Bora on the Boro Christians and termed it as unacceptable.
