GUWAHATI: In a bid to make the largest airport of the Northeast Indian Region more accessible to travellers and to decrease the hassle that travellers have to face at the entry point, a new system has been implemented by the authorities of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport of Guwahati.

Air travellers flying out of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport of Guwahati will now be able to enter the airport seamlessly. They can navigate through queue systems at the entrance to get their tickets and ID proof checked inside to enter the Security Holding Area(SHA) prior to the boarding of their flights.

This new initiative is in line with Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport's aims to develop a new state-of-the-art digital ecosystem that will offer a seamless, consistent and paperless service experience at the airport.

The working of the new system is also very simple. New E gates have been installed at the entry point of the departure gates. These gates are attached with QR code scanners at the pre-security check area itself.

Passengers can now scan the QR codes added on their boarding passes. That will allow the passengers to enter the pre-checking area without needing to show identity cards like before. Digital copies of the boarding passes can also be scanned at these E gates using mobile devices.

As of now, four e-gates have been installed in the departure terminal of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. They will become fully functional from the coming Saturday, that is November 12, 2022.

This step will also be very helpful to the people with the airlines to locate their passengers within the terminal and increase the security systems of the major airport.

A total of 16115 passengers passed through this airport yesterday.
