Assam: Newly-formed Biswanath district inaugurated by Pijush Hazarika

The newly-formed Biswanath district was inaugurated on Sunday by the State Water Resources, Information and Public Relations and Parliamentary Affairs Pijush Hazarika.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The newly-formed Biswanath district was inaugurated on Sunday by the State Water Resources, Information and Public Relations and Parliamentary Affairs Pijush Hazarika.

Hazarika, who is also the Guardian Minister of the Biswanath district, formally inaugurated Biswanath district at a solemn ceremony held at Kamalakanta Natya Samaj Kshetra. Inaugurating the district, the minister said that today is a memorable day for the people of Biswanath as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah has given district status to Biswanath as promised earlier. He added that the government’s initiative for the rapid development of the new district and the goodwill of the Chief Minister will go a long way in establishing Biswanath as the leading district. He congratulated the people of Biswanath and also sought the cooperation in the all-round development of the district.

MLAs of Behali, Gohpur and Biswanath, Ranjit Dutta, Utpal Borah and Pramod Borthakur, respectively, expressed their heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah for giving district status to Biswanath while District Commissioner of Biswanath, Dr Neha Yadav delivered the welcome address.

On this special occasion, the minister also inaugurated the Amrit Katha Yatra programme in Biswanath launched by the Government of India across the country. Earlier, as part of the Amrit Briksha Andolan, the Chief Minister’s ambitious scheme, Hazarika planted saplings in the premises of Kamalakanta Natya Samaj Kshetra.

The programme was also attended by Superintendent of Police Subhashish Baruah, Biswanath Chariali Municipality chairman Amarjyoti Borthakur, former MLA Prabin Hazarika, and others.
