Priyangdeep Kakoti receives award

Numaligarh: The Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU) has conferred the Prahlad Gowala Memorial State Bravery Journalism Award of the year to Morangi Press Club secretary Priyangdeep Kakoti. In its mid-term conference at Udalguri on Sunday, the award was conferred to Priyangdeep Kakoti. He is a well-known senior journalist of Golaghat district who is also involved in many social organizations. A member of Morangi Press Club stated, “Journalistic bribery is a relatively common practice nowadays, while many of us are powerless to change the situation, Priyangdeep Kakoti has always followed the professional ethics of journalism and hence he deserves to be recognized.”

After receiving the award, Kakoti was felicitated by many social organizations of the area along with Morangi Press Club and Numaligarh Journalists Association for his never compromising attitude and honesty in the field of journalism.

Farmer attacked by wild buffaloes

DEMOW: In Teteliguri Gaon in Panidehing mouza under Demow Revenue Circle, a farmer was attacked by wild buffaloes on Sunday morning. According to sources, Kartick Mala, a farmer of Teteliguri Gaon, went to Kathiyatali to bring paddy and then suddenly two wild buffaloes attacked him. The wild buffaloes had waded through the flood water. Kartick Mala sustained several injuries on his body. He was immediately taken to Demow Model Hospital. After providing primary treatment in Demow Model Hospital, Kartick was referred to Dibrugarh for better treatment.

Free solar energy units distributed

Hamren: Keeping the electoral promise of providing solar energy in each household in Upilangso village under Amreng constituency made by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Tuliram Ronghang , free solar energy units were distributed to the residents of Upilangso in Hamren on Sunday.

The programme was chaired by Socheng Amreng Border Development Adhoc Committee chairman Augustin Hanse while the chief guest was EM Rupsing Teron. Prior to the commencement of the event, social activist Mahendra Rongpi was commemorated.

EM Rupsing Teron, in the programme, said that the order for the construction of 14 km PMGSY road between Rongpangbong and Upilangso had been already issued. However, the unfavourable weather these days had indeed prevented the execution of the order.

Competitive exam coaching camp underway

LAKHIMPUR: A coaching camp organized by North Lakhimpur regional unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) for the benefit of the various competitive exam aspirants of Lakhimpur has been underway at the Rev. William Ward Junior College campus of North Lakhimpur town.

The programme, which was organized in collaboration with Lakhimpur Girls’ College and Rev. William Ward Junior College, was inaugurated in a befitting manner recently. The programme kicked off with the inaugural speech by Lakhimpur Girls’ College Principal Dr. Surajit Bhuyan in the presence of a galaxy of eminent resource persons of the coaching camp. The Principal of the Rev. William Ward Junior College, Uday Gogoi, and Lakhimpur AASU president Pulok Jyoti Borah spoke on the occasion.
