Assam: NH blockade staged to protest against expansion of capital area

The protesters with placards in their hands, demanded Sixth Schedule status and constitutional safeguard for the indigenous people.

Jagiroad: The All Tiwa Students' Union (ATSU), All Tiwa Women Association (ATWA), in association with many organizations, on Friday staged a one-hour National Highway blockade to protest against the State Government's proposal to expand the capital area upto Jagiroad paper mill. The protesters with placards in their hands, demanded Sixth Schedule status and constitutional safeguard for the indigenous people. ATSU advisor Rimal Amshi and secretary Dipon Amsong took part in the protest.
