GUWAHATI: In response to recent reports and confusion surrounding the fee structure for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination, the authorities of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) have issued a clarification. The Controller of Examination of SEBA, Nayan Jyoti Sarma, stated that there has been no increase in the fee structure for HSLC candidates over the past three years.

Contrary to initial confusion, candidates will continue to pay Rs. 1,200 when filling out their examination forms, not the erroneously reported amount of Rs. 2,200. The confusion arose from an additional Rs. 1,000, which many mistakenly believed was to be paid by the candidates. In reality, this fee is an Annual Recognition Fee to be covered by the Head of the Institution.

SEBA released a notification recently, providing details about the form fill-up dates, online payment process, and the revised fee structure for the HSLC examination.

According to the notification, the examination fee remains at Rs. 700, with an additional Rs. 150 for the practical examination fee (if applicable). Furthermore, candidates should be aware of the Rs. 350 center fee. Importantly, the annual recognition fee of Rs. 1,000 will be the responsibility of the Head of the Institution, not the students.

This clarification from SEBA comes as a relief to candidates and their families who were concerned about the reported fee hike. With the fee structure remaining unchanged for the past three years, students can now proceed with their exam preparations without any financial burden.

The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), has confirmed that there is no increase in the fee structure for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination. Candidates will continue to pay Rs. 1,200 as they have in previous years, and the confusion surrounding an additional Rs. 1,000 fee has been clarified as an Annual Recognition Fee to be paid by the Head of the Institution. This announcement provides much-needed clarity for HSLC candidates and ensures that they can focus on their studies without worrying about increased examination fees.
