NAGAON: As per the understanding with district agriculture department, Nagaon, North West Jorhat Farmers Production Company (NWJFPC) ceremonially purchased 25 quintal foxtail millets produced by 18 farmers of the district under Assam Millets Mission sponsored by the State Government. The Jorhat-based farmers production company purchased the millets at Rs 40 per kilogram.
In a special meeting organized on marketing strategies at Nagaon district agriculture office, the officials from the company collected millets from those 18 farmers here and also handed over the payment cheques to the farmers.
District Commissioner Narendra Kr Shah, Deputy District Commissioner Lakshay Jyoti Das, district agriculture officer Satish Talukdar, additional agriculture director Ranjan Prasad Deka, Sub-divisional agriculture officer Rekibul Faruki as well as other officials from the district agriculture department were present during the millets purchase programme.
