Assam: One Dead, Four Injured as Their Vehicle Collides with Dumper

JAMUGURIHAT: An accident that took place in the early hours of Saturday led to the death of one student and the injury of four others. The incident is said to have happened when the Maruti Suzuki Swift vehicle that the victims were in collided with a dumper truck at a high speed on their way from Dibrugarh to Mangaldai.

The deceased person was identified as Luku Sharma, who is a student at Dibrugarh University. The four injured people were shifted to the Dhalaibil Primary Health Centre which is located nearest to the location of the incident for medical attention. Local police also arrived at the location and took control of the situation. The reasons for the accident have not been known yet and the police will investigate the details leading to the incident.

Around a month and a half back, seven students of Assam Engineering College (AEC) were killed and six others injured in a road accident near the DCP West office, Jalukbari in Guwahati in the wee hours today. A speeding Scorpio bearing registration number AS 01 FK 9605 coming from the Azara side crossed over the divider and crashed into a Bolero goods carrier bearing registration number AS 01 GC 8829 on the opposite lane coming from Guwahati side. There were 10 students of AEC, Jalukbari in the Scorpio and one of the students, Kaushik Baruah was driving the car. There were three persons in the DI goods carrier.

In the accident, seven students succumbed to injuries on the spot and three are undergoing treatment in private hospitals. The three persons in the DI vehicle who were injured are undergoing treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The condition of all the injured persons is stated to be critical.
