KOKRAJHAR: The opening ceremony of the Kokrajhar Basic Training Centre (BTC) was held recently with a day-long programme at its auditorium hall. The main celebration of the platinum jubilee of Basic Training Centre will be held in December for which a strong reception committee has been formed with Pratibha Brahma, chairperson of Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB), as chairperson and Laxman Singh Brahma as convenor.
As part of the opening ceremony, the principal of Basic Training Centre, Swmdwn Brahma hoisted the flag of the institution followed by unveiling of a replica of the platinum jubilee memorial to be constructed in front of the institution by MLA of Kokrajhar East Lawrence Islary. The MLA also started the plantation of saplings in the premises of the Basic Training Centre.
An open meeting was also held at the auditorium hall of the institution with Pratibha Brahma, the chairperson of the reception committee of the platinum jubilee celebration in the chair. Minister UG Brahma graced the occasion as chief guest while MLA Lawrence Islary also spoke on the occasion.
Talking to media persons, MLA Lawrence Islary said that the Kokrajhar Basic Training Centre was the only premier institution in the BTC region for training of teachers of lower primary schools exclusively for Bodo medium. He said the institution was still a centre of excellence for the lower primary teachers to facilitate training. He also said the platinum jubilee celebration of the Basic Training Centre would be held in a befitting manner in December.
Islary said the BTC had decided to upgrade the existing infrastructures and boundary wall. He said a beautiful entrance gate would also be constructed, besides building other basic infrastructures.
