Assam: Narcotics Seized in Operation by Tinsukia Sadar Police

Based on credible information, a Tinsukia Sadar police team led by officer-in-charge Parag Buragohain led an operation against drugs at the office of Gauripur Roadways located in Tamulbari Bus Stand in the heart of the town on Thursday and nabbed a staff identified as Jarmanjeet Singh and recovered 16.47 grams of suspected heroin and 4.75 grams of opium from his possession.

TINSUKIA : Based on credible information, a Tinsukia Sadar police team led by officer-in-charge Parag Buragohain led an operation against drugs at the office of Gauripur Roadways located in Tamulbari Bus Stand in the heart of the town on Thursday and nabbed a staff identified as Jarmanjeet Singh and recovered 16.47 grams of suspected heroin and 4.75 grams of opium from his possession. Buragohain told media that the consignment was brought from Ledo in Tinsukia district.

Meanwhile, rural womenfolk of Tinsukia district particularly Kakopathar, Rupai, Doomdooma are up in arms and took to streets against drug menace on Tuesday after 4 drug addicts including a peddler were caught by public at Rupai-Rangajan and Rajgarh Gaon while police seized a vehicle bearing number AS 23W 7998 with packets of drugs allegedly used by peddler Niranta Bora, alias Lela. Disgruntled with alleged police inaction against peddlers, many of whom are habitual offenders, the women demanded that the culprits be handed over to women society and organisations to give a rightful teaching to them. They would not even hesitate to take law into their hands if things go unabated, they told local media.
