PATHSALA: Overloaded vehicles with no registered number plates are still being driven in Pathsala at a time when the number of accident cases is increasing. It has become a threat for the citizens.

Locals blamed the authority concerned for not taking strict measures against the erring drivers. Commuters said most of the overloaded dumpers and tractors carrying bricks, sand without number plates were not questioned by the transport department and traffic police in Pathsala town road.

Locals alleged, trucks causing pollution with black smoke move freely in the area without any registered number plate which is very dangerous for public health.

A local said, heavy vehicles also do not adhere to norms on pollution control as black smoke emitted by them can cause serious respiratory problems.

Another local resident said, “Although officials of the district transport office sometimes come to Pathsala to check bikers not wearing helmets, but they forget to check documents of the trucks and dumpers. We request the Bajali Police and transport department to check vehicles in Pathsala town.”
