HAFLONG: Huge number of people from the Semkhor constituency of N C Hills Autonomous Council have come forward to express their solidarity with the apparent candidate Heorjit Jidung, a prominent social activist at Durunbra II on Wednesday. Social activist Jidung was there to inaugurate the Jio mobile tower at the village. A welcoming meeting was arranged by hundreds of residents from the Semkhor constituency in order to introduce Jidung to everyone.

The public meeting was held with D. Langthasa, GB of Durunbra village in the chair wherein GBs of 12 villages, Mouzaders and prominent BJP leaders were present. In the meeting, people unitedly vented their anger towards the sitting MAC of Semkhor constituency Ranu Langthasa for keeping people in the dark about the development of the constituency.

Langthasa has been the MAC from Semkhor for more than fifteen years but Semkhor is yet to see the light of development be it in regards to education, communication, the Health sector etc. People are resolved not to support her in the upcoming council election this time around. They mentioned the state of the LP School and the village's water supply, claiming that the majority of the residents in Semkhor are backward because the MAC has consistently turned a blind eye to them.

Youths are also of the opinion that without the change in leadership, Semkhor would not see any development in near future. Therefore, they are adamant about supporting Herojit Jidung who has helped them on many occasions during their crisis. Herojit Jidung said he was there to inaugurate the mobile tower since the authority wanted Jidung to inaugurate the tower.

Appreciating people’s love and affection he said, he was there to get himself introduced with the people who came from far-flung areas to bless him. He assured that he would do whatever his capacity allows him. He also said that he was very much aware of the fact that the Semkhor constituency is the most deprived constituency of the council.
