GUWAHATI: With the recent hike in fuel prices across Assam, the prices of petrol in a total of six districts of the state have crossed the Rupees 100 mark on Sunday 27 March.
On the other hand, 18 other districts that include the major capital city Guwahati is going to witness an increase in petrol price as it will soon hit the century mark.
On Sunday the price of petrol has become the costliest in Assam's Lakhimpur and Majuli districts where it is now available to buy at Rupees 101.13 per litre.
Apart from Lakhimpur and Majuli the other 4 districts that crossed Rs 100 club after the increase in 55 paise are Dima Hasao, Dhemaji, West Karbi Anglong and Biswanath.
On Monday 28 March the petrol and diesel prices were hiked for the sixth time in one week and this time it is increased by 30 paise making petrol cost Rs 99.02 per litre hence just Rs 1 is left to hit the 100 rupees mark.
In addition, the diesel price in Guwahati is hiked by 35 paise leading to Rupees 85.18 per litre on Monday and on the previous day it was hiked by 55 paise.
In the last week, the oil firms have revised fuel prices 6 times which resulted in a big hike in petrol prices. Since 22 March except for one day in between the oil companies has been increasing the petrol and diesel prices.
The petrol price from 6 November 2021 to 20 March 2022 remained the same as it stood at Rupees 94.58 in Guwahati metropolis and varied between Rupees 94.58 and 97.12 in other districts of the state.
Guwahati has experienced a petrol price increase of around Rupees 27 a litre in the previous two years which is about a 27 percent hike as compared to the price on 27 March 2020.
