Guwahati: The Assam Police on Wednesday announced cash-rewards of Rs 2 lakh for three accused in connection with a recent case of Rhino poaching.

These accused have been identified as Abdul Matin, Ataur Rahman and Asmat Ali and are residents of Biswanath district.

Taking to the micro-blogging site twitter, the Additional DGP (law and order), GP Singh, tweeted, ''WANTED FOR RHINO POACHING REWARD OF Rs 2 Lacs - for information leading to arrest of each of them''.

''REWARD OF Rs 5 Lacs for information leading to recovery of poached Rhino horn,'' he said in another tweet.

GP Singh has also released photographs of three suspected poachers announcing the rewards.

He said that the three poachers are in the most wanted list.

Notably, as per the report of last year, a major change has been witnessed in the illegal hunt of Rhino in Assam which shows a big drop in rhino horn poaching.

In the year 2021, the state saw only one incident of rhino poaching which was reported in the month of April last year as informed by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) GP Singh through his Twitter handle on Saturday 15 January.

The Anti-Poaching Task Force was constituted by the Assam government in the month of June 2021 with the objective to protect the one-horned rhinos under the chairmanship and leadership of DGP GP Singh.
