GUWAHATI: In Tinsukia, Assam, three members of the terrorist group Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) have been detained.

The Special Task Force (STF) of Arunachal Pradesh and Tinsukia Police initiated joint operations in response to particular inputs. On Friday, the three extremists were taken into custody at SK Point in Tinsukia.

Aehon, Awany, and Hongam Ngodam have been identified as the arrested cadres. The team seized a .32 pistol along with two magazines from their possession.

Arunachal Pradesh police and Assam Rifles Jawans conducted a joint operation at Bordumsa in the Changlang district of Arunachal on February 21 that resulted in the capture of two active ENNG cadres. Nanu Tamang and Tanching Longching were recognised as the arrested ENNG cadres.

During the operation, two firearms and one magazine were also taken from their possession by the security forces. Security personnel and police arrested an ENNG insurgent on August 29, 2022, in the Longding region of Arunachal during a combined operation.

According to precise information about the presence of an ENNG cadre, state police and Assam Rifles soldiers conducted a coordinated operation.

It should be noted that the ENNG group has increased its activity over the past couple of years along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on the state's upper side.

The Arunachal Pradesh police and security forces earlier on Thursday began a crackdown on the farmhouses used by unnamed terrorist groups in Langpang along the Indo-Myanmar border.

No one was reportedly detained during the operation, but the security forces managed to demolish the farm houses and take a sizable quantity of weapons and ammunition, as well as some questionable documents, from the area. The media has not been given the precise sum.

Four to five ENNG active cadres were reportedly using the farm dwellings, according to sources.
