GUWAHATI: According to reports, an Assam Police constable was discovered hanging on Saturday morning at a police station in the Morigaon district's Jagiroad. Sani Nath, a native of the Hailakandi district, has been identified as the deceased constable.

According to authorities, Nath was purportedly discovered hanging on a porch behind the barracks of the Nellie police outpost. The now-deceased cop had only recently joined the force, according to information. It has not yet been determined why he took such a drastic action. Once they arrived, authorities removed the remains for an autopsy.

Investigation has been already started by local police. In Assam's Nagaon district, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan committed himself earlier this year as a result of a family argument.

The event happened in Kampur, where Sanjeeb Lashkar, a jawan, hanged himself on a fan in his chamber.

According to Lashkar's relatives, he and his wife, Sweety Raja Lashkar, had been arguing over personal matters for a few days, and as a result she had been spending a lot of time away from him at the home of her maternal family in the Jajri district. 15 years ago, the couple tied the knot and became parents to a single child. The police made plans for a post-mortem examination after they got on the site later.

On March 12, a senior police officer was discovered hanged at a battalion camp in the Cachar district of Assam. According to sources, the constable was discovered hanged inside a room at the 6th Assam Police Battalion barracks in Cachar's Kathal neighbourhood. The dead has been named as Cachar district resident Biplab Chakraborty. When they discovered a body hanging in the room, Chakraborty's coworkers alerted higher authorities, who then notified the police.

The deceased was then brought to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for an autopsy. Chakraborty's severe action has not yet been given a cause, though.

In order to determine whether the incident was a suicide or a homicide, the police have opened an investigation.
