Assam Police Nabs Kaziranga Rhino Poacher From Kerala

Guwahati: The Assam Police on Wednesday caught a person who allegedly invovlved in the recent rhino poaching case in the Kaziranga National Park (KNP).

The arrested person was identified as Asmaat Ali (36) alias Nalko, residents of Milanpur, Chatia, Biswanath District.

Taking to the mciro-blogging site Twitter, Forest and Enviroment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya confirmed the same and tweeted, "The evil accused in the recent rhino poaching act in @kaziranga_ has been nabbed from Kerela last night. Kudos to @assampolice & gratitude towards the cooperation from Kerela Police. Team Assam under HCM Dr.@himantabiswa's guidance is committed to counter such crimes".

On January 20, this year, a rhino carcass was recovered in Hikekhonda under Kaziranga Range in Assam.

Interestingly, a day before the carass was recovered Kevin Pietersen had appreciated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government on the dropping of Rhino poaching in Assam, the state saw another case of suspected Rhino poaching.

According to media reports, the carcass was of a full-grown Rhino that was found in Hikekahonda under Kaziranga Range in Assam.
