Assam Police recovers arms, ammunition in Baksa

One AK-47 rifle along with one magazine, 107 live ammunition of AK-47 rifles and one glock pistol with ammunition were recovered in the operation.

Baksa: On Monday, Assam Police recovered arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle from the banks of Mora Pagladia river in Baksa district.

Assam Police personnel launched search operations at Barimakha in Baksa district on receiving information and found the weapons and ammunition buried under the soil near the banks of the river.

One AK-47 rifle along with one magazine, 107 live ammunition of AK-47 rifles and one glock pistol with ammunition were recovered in the operation.

Additional director general of police (ADGP) for law-and-order GP Singh took to Twitter to announce the recovery of the arms and ammunition. He wrote, "On February 1st 2021, @BaksaPol recovered One A K 47 rifle along with 107 rounds ammunition, one Glock pistol with 8 rounds ammunition from Barimakha near the bank of Mora Pagladia river,"

Baksa Police also shared the news on their official Twitter account. They wrote, "Today @BaksaPol recovered 01 AK-47 Rifle with 107 rounds ammunition, 1 Glock pistol with 8 rounds ammunition at Barimakha area, near the bank of Mora Pagladia river under Barbari PS. #AssamPolice"

On January 28, Assam Police released a list of a huge cache of arms and ammunitions recovered from the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) so far. The list was also shared on Twitter by Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order GP Singh.

According to the list released by Assam Police, the seized cache includes four HK series rifles, 56 AK series rifles, a rocket launcher, a grenade launcher, 22 country made rifles among others.

The cache also includes explosives, detonators, bombs, magazines, bullets and grenades.

The police have also recovered communication tools such as satellite phones, walkie talkie etc.

This came after Bodoland Territorial Chief Chief Pramod Boro asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take action in order to unearth hidden arms and ammunition in the Bodo belt.
