Meanwhile, the State Government will prefer youths completing their four-year Agnipath stint in recruitment to the Assam Police.
Welcoming the Agnipath scheme, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "The State Government has decided to accord priority to 'Agniveers' in recruitments in the Assam Police. 'Agniveers' will acquire enough military skill and arms training during their four-year stint. They will retire from the armed forces at 21, a fit age for any police force. I hope many youths from the state will join the Indian army as 'agniveers'. We need to train our youths district-wise to make them qualify for the physical and other tests for the Angipath military service."
He said, "The state youths have a changed mindset now. They undertake physical training on their own for jobs in the Assam Police. They are confident of getting jobs in the Assam Police without any favour."
