Assam Police Special Task Force Carries Out Operation Against FICN

GUWAHATI: A major operation was carried out by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police against miscreants dealing in counterfeit notes in the state. The team were able to apprehend five individuals and seize several items from their possession during the operation.

The operation was carried out by the Special Task Force after receiving information that a group involved in Fake Indian Currency Notes was active in the city. They initiated the operation in the city on Friday and raided a rented accommodation with the address of House number A-1, Dakhingaon, Saukuchi Road which comes under the jurisdiction of the Hatigaon Police Station. The information was regarding the dealing and delivery of Fake Indian Currency Notes.

Five individuals were apprehended by the team as a result of this operation. The police revealed their identities as Nizam Ali (50 years old), son of Hurmuz Ali, resident of Village: 2 number Islampur, Police Station: Bihpuria, District: North Lakhimpur, Hafizur Rahman (36 years old), son of Abdul Matim, resident of Village: 2 number Islampur, Police Station: Bihpuria, District: North Lakhimpur, Assam, Abdul Rajak (46 years old), son of Iman Ali, resident of 1 number Ahmedpur, Police Station - Bihpuria, District-Lakhimpur, Munindra Hazarika (44 years old), son of the late Ram Hazarika, resident of Narayanpur, Police Station: Narayanpur, District: Lakhimpur, and Atikur Rahman (38 years old), son of Azim Ali, resident of Hatigaon, Sijubari H/No-06, Police Station: Hatigaon, District- Kamrup(M).

During the search operations, the STF was able to recovered the following items from their possession. 26 counterfeit notes of Rs. 500 denomination (FICN), 6 mobile phones, black-coloured papers of Rs. 500 note size, which can be converted into Rs. 500 FICN when a specific chemical is applied, 1 bottle containing a liquid chemical used for developing Rs. 500 denomination counterfeit notes, 1 bottle containing a suspected liquid chemical, One bundle of black papers in the size of Rs. 500 notes used for counterfeiting, One brown-colored tape and one white-colored plastic marketing bag, Cash amounting to Rs. 7,700 and one MahindraScorpio vehicle with the registration number AS 01 AR 1918.

The apprehended individuals and the recovered/seized items have been handed over to Hatigaon Police Station for the registration of a case, investigation, and the initiation of necessary legal actions.
