Dibrugarh: A Sub Inspector of Assam Police, Dipjyoti Das, has been arrested for allegedly demanding and receiving Rs. 1 lakh from a civilian. This is yet another case of corruption in Assam Police.

Das was posted at Tengakhat Police Station of Dibrugarh district. The said money was recovered from his possession. He was arrested by the Officer-in-Charge of the Tengakhat PS. According to the police sources, Das demanded the amount in connection with a POCSO case.

Last month, two police officers were arrested by Assam's vigilance and anti-corruption cell for taking a bribe.

Officer-in-Charge of Gauripur Police Station Satyajit Borthakur and Assistant Sub Inspector Abu Kalam Azad were caught taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

The image of Assam Police has already taken a huge beating after the corruption in SI recruitment process came to light. Senior police official DIG (retd) P K Dutta, a prime accused in the job scam is still absconding.
