Assam Polls 2021: Ajanta Neog and Mrinal Saikia win Golaghat & Khumtai

The counting of votes for the five constituencies of Golaghat district went peacefully with no reports of any untoward incident.

GOLAGHAT: The counting of votes for the five constituencies of Golaghat district went peacefully with no reports of any untoward incident.

Out of the five constituencies in Golaghat, 1,60,091 voters had exercised their right to franchise out of a total of 2,05,196 voters.

Of the three candidates in Golaghat – BJP candidate Ajanta Neog got 81,565 votes, and INC candidate Bitupan Saikia got 72,529 votes. Neog won with a margin of 9,036 votes. On the other hand, Assam Jatiya Parishad candidate Rina Saikia received 5,082 votes and 2,233 votes were registered for NOTA.

In Khumtai LAC, 1,15,579 voters exercised their right to franchise. INC candidate Bismita Gogoi got 38,622 votes, BJP candidate Mrinal Saikia received 65,138 votes, AJP candidate Pawan Saikia received 7,280 votes, Susengfa Gogoi (independent) received 1,068 votes, Priyam Konwar (independent) received 1,515 votes, and Dipak Gowala (independent) received 663 votes. Overall counting process in Golaghat election district went off peacefully.
