MORAN: A five-month pregnant teacher at a school in Moran reportedly suffered abuse and threats from Class XI students while the ragging case at Dibrugarh University is still active.
According to reports, some students of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya located in Moran attacked the pregnant teacher after she told their parents about their poor performance in their recent examination.
After some girls from the hostel alerted other teachers, the teacher was saved from being surrounded by the students.
Speaking about the incident, the school authorities mentioned it to be a very unfortunate event and that proper action will be taken against those found to be guilty in proper investigation.
According to the school's principal, the students' parents were called in and asked to pick them up and take them home, but both sets of parents turned them down.
According to reports, 22 people were found, and legal proceedings have been opened against them. Although the students have denied hitting them, an investigation has been started.
Recent developments regarding the issue have come to light. After the preliminary investigations on the side of the school authorities, these twenty-two students have been suspended temporarily from the school and have been asked to vacate the premises. Police and local administration had to be called in by the school authorities when some of the parents of the suspended students did not agree with their decision.
These are temporary measures and the final decision regarding the future of these students will be taken only after a proper enquiry into the incident mentioned by the school authorities.
