Assam: Preparatory meeting for mega cleanliness drive held at Nagaon

A district level coordination preparatory meeting in connection with the “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta”, a one hour massive cleanliness drive by citizens scheduled to be organized on October 1, 2023 from 10 am to 11 am across the nation was held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the office of the District Commissioner, Nagaon.

NAGAON: A district level coordination preparatory meeting in connection with the “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta”, a one hour massive cleanliness drive by citizens scheduled to be organized on October 1, 2023 from 10 am to 11 am across the nation was held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the office of the District Commissioner, Nagaon. The meeting was chaired by Satyajit Chetia, DDC, Nagaon.

Giving a brief note about the programme to the stakeholders, DDC, Nagaon explained that the mega cleanliness drive calls upon citizens from all walks of life to join in actual cleaning activities of public places like market spaces, railway tracks, water bodies, tourist locations, religious places etc. Every ward in the Municipal areas, Gram Panchayats in rural areas, all sectors of the government like Anganwadi centres, railways, public institutions among others will be facilitating cleanliness events participation by the citizens.

The Nagaon District administration urged the citizens of the district to voluntarily take part in this drive and emphasized the significant roles that can be played by the NGOs and youth organizations in this noble effort. The cleanliness events will be available for public information on digital platform Swachhata Hi Seva – Citizens Portal https://swachhatahiseva.com/. This mega cleanliness drive is part of the Swachhata Pakhwada- Swachhata Hi Seva 2023, which is being observed from September 15 till October 2.
