GUWAHATI: President Droupadi Murmu launched the "Bhoroxa" mobile app at the Gauhati High Court on April 7 in an effort to help women feel safer, addressing a long-standing concern about their safety in India.

Women in need of assistance can use the app, which features women-related programmes and a number of helplines throughout the state.

The bicycle procession and friendly cricket match between the Chief Justice XI and Chief Minister XI teams kicked off the week-long platinum jubilee celebrations of the Gauhati High Court on April 1. The honourable chief judge of the Gauhati High Court, Dr. Sandeep Mehta, attended the event and gave a speech welcoming everyone and stressing the value of keeping peace and harmony for the protection of women and other marginalised groups in society.

The 181 helpline number for women seeking assistance is one of the key features of the app. This helpline will make sure that ladies in need may contact the authorities and request assistance right away. The app also provides information on numerous initiatives targeted at empowering and protecting women.

The release of the "Bhoroxa" mobile app coincided with the Gauhati High Court's platinum jubilee celebrations, which also saw the release of the Assamese translation of the book "Gauhati High Court: History and Heritage" by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and a commemorative stamp on April 5 by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

The Chief Justice of India also unveiled two apps on the e-sewa Kendra website for Assam and merged the CIS and e-Prisons programmes at the same time.

The introduction of the "Bhoroxa" mobile app is a significant move in the right direction for women's empowerment and safety in India.

On the second day of her visit to Assam, President Droupadi Murmu went on a jeep safari inside the central range of the Kaziranga National Park, according to officials. They claimed that as she entered the park from Mihimukh Point, she witnessed a variety of creatures, including a one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, deer, and birds. In the park, Murmu fed elephants as well.
