Assam Press Correspondents’ Union founder president Bhabesh Saikia passed away

Bhabesh Saikia, a life member of Axam Xahitya Xabha, former Executive Member of Golaghat District Xahitya Xabha, prominent educationist, writer, senior journalist, founder president of APCU (Assam Press Correspondents’ Union) passed away on Monday evening at Mission Hospital, Jorhat. Saikia died after heart ailment.

GOLAGHAT: Bhabesh Saikia, a life member of Axam Xahitya Xabha, former Executive Member of Golaghat District Xahitya Xabha, prominent educationist, writer, senior journalist, founder president of APCU (Assam Press Correspondents’ Union) passed away on Monday evening at Mission Hospital, Jorhat. Saikia died after heart ailment. He was 94 years at the time of death. Bhabesh Saikia was born in 1923. He started his journey as a teacher in education department and parallelly he stepped into the field of journalism at Bokahat sub division in Golaghat district.

Bhabesh Saikia was the founder president of Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU). He was actively associated with various social, culture and educational organizations. He had a vast contribution in social activities. He was closely associated with APCU, Asom Rajyik Sangbadik Sangstha, Bokakhat Sub Divisional Journalist Union, Bokakhat Press Club, Emoja Kaziranga, News Network etc. His death has been widely mourned by the people of Bokakhat and all the organizations of which he was a part. He leaves behind his wife, four sons, daughters-in-law and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

APCU Golaghat District Committee president Pradip Kumar Bora, secretary Saranga Tamuli, Central Committee Secretary Pranab Chakraborty, District working president Priyandeep Kakati, Hemanta Saikia, Nabin Gohain paid their deepest tributes and prayed for the departed soul. APCU central committee has condoled his death.
