Guwahati: The prime accused in Batadrava minor girl rape case was injured in police firing after a team of Assam police opened fire at him on Wednesday night.
Reportedly, the accused Idris Ali made an attempt to escape police custody when he was taken to a hospital for a medical checkup.
Following this, the police team shot him and he received a bullet injury in the knee and later was taken to a hospital for treatment.
As per reports, Ali is currently being treated at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Earlier, the Batadraba police had nabbed Ali for raping a 3-year-old girl on April 19.
Locals of Batadraba have demanded strict actions against the accused.
