KOKRAJHAR: To protest the outrageous act on women and violence in Manipur, a sit-in-protest was held under the aegis of Lower Assam NGO Forum at Bodofa Children Park in the heart of Kokrajhar Town on Monday evening. The activists of different NGOs comprises Nedan Foundation, Nerswn, ANT etc covering their mouths with black clothes took part strongly and expressed their anguish over the violence.
Rani Helen Wary, a social worker of Kokrajhar and Assistant Teacher of Kokrajhar Girls HS School condemned the act of naked parading of tribal women in open space by a group of miscreants in Manipur. She said the outrage of modesty of tribal women was intolerable but government has not taken prompt action in time which is a matter of concern. She demanded that the government of Manipur must take stringent action on the perpetrators without further delay.
Other activists of the NGOs also strongly condemned the Manipur violence. The activists taking banners in hands shouted slogans against the delaying of action to be taken against the culprits. The NGO Forum urged the government of India and Manipur to bring back total normalcy and peace in the State.
