Assam: Pulin Hazarika’s green mission to provide food and shelter to birds

GAURISAGAR: A man from the Sivasagar district has been planting saplings to provide food and shelter to birds. He has been working alone in order to make Mother Earth green.

This person, who through his works has created a place for himself in people’s hearts, is Pulin Hazarika, a retired officer of ONGC and former president of ASTO. Since October 2, 2014, Hazarika has been actively involved in the Swachh Bharat Mission. Under this mission, he has been planting saplings with bamboo fencing in different schools, colleges, health centres, places of workship, offices and by the side of roads.

In order to make Sivasagar green and clean, he has been donating and distributing dustbins. Moreover, he is running a NGO named Sahayika which plants valuable tress in the areas covered by ONGC. Till now, Hazarika has planted 300 saplings. In his mission he has been supported by his family and by the members of Sahayika.
