Assam: Railway workers seek old pension

TINSUKIA: ‘The railway workers do not want to come into any conflict with the government. Railway workers are only seeking old pension. If the old pensions are not restored, the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) will be forced to take a strong mass agitation like Rail Wheel Jam’ stated Shib Gopal Mishra, general secretary of AIRF in the 99th annual session of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) being held at Parel Mumbai on Wednesday.

In a communiqué issued by Pulak Gogoi, Assistant General Secretary of NFRMU stated that the 99th convention of AIRF was chaired by Dr N Kanhaiya president AIRF which was attended by representatives of 17 Railway divisions of the country, NFR Mazdoor Union Central President DilipChakraborty, general secretary Ashish Biswas and others.

Gogoi further stated that the country’s railway workers have demanded the cancellation of the new pension policy, the filling of 3,12,039 vacancies in Indian railways, price hike and the privatization of the country’s lucrative industries and resources.
