Assam: Rajya Sabha Member Pabitra Margherita Visits Batadrava Than

NAGAON: Rajya Sabha Member from Assam as well as the political advisor to the Chief Minister of Assam, Pabitra Margherita visited the historically important Batadrava Than of the state on Monday. He was accompanied by the Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from the Batadrava Constituency of the state, Rupak Sharma.

The political leaders were accompanied by a number of people including party workers on the visit. The politicians took part in the religious events at the Than as they sought blessings at the very beginning of the year 2024. They also prayed for the peace and development of the region. They also visited the Akakhi Ganga in the locality.

On their visit to Akashi Ganga, the leaders interacted with the local people as well. These also included the owners of the stalls gutted by a fire recently. A total of 13 stalls selling a variety of materials to the visitor of Akashi Ganga was gutted by a fire recently causing heavy losses to the shopkeepers and their families who depend on the sales from these stalls.

Interacting with the victims who had suffered losses during the fire, Batadrava MLA Rupak Sharma handed over some financial support so that they could rebuild the shops in the days to come.

In the last week of December, in the dead of night, a catastrophic inferno engulfed Batadrava Market, nestled in Assam's Nagaon district. The devastating blaze wreaked havoc on numerous shops and businesses, resulting in the loss of goods valued at several lakhs of rupees. Swift action by fire officials, police, and vigilant local residents averted what could have been an even greater tragedy. Their collaborative efforts brought the formidable flames under control, showcasing the resilience of community spirit in the face of adversity. A total of 13 shops were damaged in this fire.
