GUWAHATI: Under the NIPUN Assam Mission for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu have flagged off the distribution of 87.60 lakh copies of books to our pre-primary and primary pupils. These books are available in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Manipuri, Garo, Hmar, and English.

Taking on Twitter, Ranoj Pegu informed that, “NIPUN is a flagship scheme under NEP 2020 to achieve Foundational Literacy & Numeracy of students in 3 - 9 years age group by 2026-27. FLN is the theme of discussion in the Education Working Group of #G20India”

The Assam State Higher Education Admission Portal, part of the Union Government's SAMARTH-e Gov portal, was officially launched on Wednesday for students seeking admission to all state universities and government-aided higher education institutions across the state. The platform was inaugurated by Education Minister Ranoj Pegu.

During the inaugural event, Pegu stated that students will be able to enrol in every institution of higher learning in the state using this portal beginning this academic year. He further stated that the number of students enrolled in higher education institutions is growing year after year. Furthermore, because one student applies for admission to multiple universities on the basis of merit at the same time, other candidates experience challenges in gaining admission to those institutions or are left behind. Students, however, will no longer encounter this issue thanks to this gateway.

Assam education minister Ranoj Pegu took to social media on Wednesday to announce that state government teachers will not be assigned jobs at the upcoming Ambubachi Mela. This year's Ambubachi Mela takes place from June 22 to June 26. The minister was responding to a report that said instructors from many schools would be assigned festival tasks. He also stated that the festival's duty rosters have not yet been finalized.
