GUWAHATI: In a recent spate of cash thefts that occurred in Guwahati and Dhubri, Assam, residents are growing increasingly concerned about their safety and the security of their possessions. These incidents highlight the need for heightened vigilance and enhanced security measures in the area.

On a Monday in Guwahati, unidentified miscreants shattered the window of a Honda Amaze vehicle in Ambari and made off with a substantial amount of cash, estimated at Rs 3 lakh. The victim, Binod Das, had just withdrawn the money from a bank before falling prey to this theft. After withdrawing the cash, Binod left it in the car and briefly visited a nearby shop. During his absence, the thieves broke the vehicle's glass and made away with the money. Authorities are actively investigating this incident to bring the culprits to justice.

A similar incident occurred in Dhubri, Assam, on July 1. In Bidyapara, a significant sum of money amounting to Rs 9,50,000 was looted from a bike parked in front of the Nubai Hotel. The thieves resorted to breaking open the bike's storage box to access the money, which belonged to Soifar Ali. A case has been registered at the Dhubri Sadar police station in connection with this incident, and authorities are conducting a thorough investigation.

These incidents of cash theft have left the residents of Guwahati and Dhubri deeply concerned about their safety and the security of their belongings. With criminals targeting individuals shortly after they have withdrawn cash, it is imperative for residents to exercise caution and be vigilant when handling large sums of money.

Local authorities, in response to these incidents, are urged to bolster security measures and increase police presence in vulnerable areas. Furthermore, residents are encouraged to take precautions such as avoiding public displays of wealth, using secure methods to transport money, and promptly reporting any suspicious activity to the police.

The rising wave of cash thefts in Guwahati and Dhubri serves as a stark reminder of the importance of personal safety and security. These incidents underscore the need for both residents and authorities to work together to curb such criminal activities and create safer communities.
