Assam: Ration cards distributed to new beneficiaries in Sivasagar

Ration card distribution to new beneficiaries under the National Food Security ACT (NFSA) has started in Assam. In Sivasagar, the distribution ceremony was held at Paragdhar Chaliha Stadium, Joysagar on Thursday.

SIVASAGAR: Ration card distribution to new beneficiaries under the National Food Security ACT (NFSA) has started in Assam. In Sivasagar, the distribution ceremony was held at Paragdhar Chaliha Stadium, Joysagar on Thursday. The event was inaugurated by State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, where the minister distributed cards to the new beneficiaries of 96 No. Sivasagar Legislative Assembly Constituency.

The number of newly selected beneficiaries in 96 No. Sivasagar LAC under Sivasagar district is 48,802 and the total number of families is 11,911. The cards were formally distributed to 15 beneficiaries at the distribution ceremony.

The programme was also attended by Vice Chairman of ARTFED Prahlad Gowala, Vice Chairman of Assam Tea Corporation Ltd. Siba Badra, Chairman of Assam Urban Water Supply and Sewage Board Kushal Duwari, Chairman of Tai Ahom Development Council Mayur Borgohain, Chairperson of Sivasagar Municipal Board Mrinalini Konwar and other dignitaries.

In line with the event, arrangements were made to distribute cards by opening 26 counters for 26 gaon panchayats and one counter for beneficiaries under Sivasagar municipal area. Arrangements were also made to open two counters separately for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) and Ayushman Card to issue e-KYC and inform the public in detail in this regard.
