Assam: Requisition Of City Buses In Guwahati For PM's Visit Leave Commuters Stranded

The city bus association has been asked to provide buses for the progammes in Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong organized for PM Modi's visit.

GUWAHATI: The city today witnessed a deserted look as most of the city buses that run in Guwahati have been reserved for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam's Dibrugarh and this has left many daily passengers stranded for hours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam's Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong districts on Thursday 28 April to attend several events.

On Wednesday 27 April, many daily commuters in the Guwahati city faced problems in travelling to their offices, establishments and other places after the massive requisition of daily buses.

A massive crowd of people was witnessed across the city waiting for buses for long hours for commuting to offices and schools.

According to reports, the same situation will continue till Friday 29 for the next 2 days as only limited numbers of buses are said to be operating in the Guwahati metropolis.

Notably, the transport department of the state has called for a total of 500 buses to be available in Karbi Anglong and Dibrugarh districts for the PM's visit is the two districts.

The city bus associations of Guwahati were asked to provide the buses for the programmes scheduled on 28 April in Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong.

Several other are not operating due to certain financial constraints and for every such government programme, the bus association is asked to provide the buses said the member.

He further added that the buses are paid for the services but due to such rallies and other programmes the daily passengers face inconvenience in boarding buses to their daily workplaces

It is not only the city buses but also the day supers and night supers which are reserved for PM Modi's program at Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong on April 28.
