Assam: Reservation of Morigaon constituency for ST opposed

MORIGAON:  Opposing the demand of Assam State BJP to reserve Morigaon constituency of Assam for ST, Assam Nath- Sahitya Sanskriti Sanmilon led by the president of the central committee Lakshya Jyoti Nath and the general secretary Jitumoni Nath on Friday rented the air with slogans across the town.

In protest against Assam BJP demanding reservation for ST in Morigaon constituency, the ethnic organization took out a protest rally across the town. The organization in the statement said that Assam State BJP has made an unethical demand before the Election Commission of India on July 20 to reserve Morigaon constituency of Assam for ST which is unacceptable as the constituency is inhabitant with 18 percent Nath-Yogi, 24 percent religious minority, 13 percent Koch, 9 percent SC,10 percent Kalita, 3 percent Brahmin. Moreover the organization also strongly opposed the exclusion of two revenue villages Borigaon and Rangadaria under Rangadaria Gaon Panchayat, Solmari Mikirgaon, village under Solmari GP and asked the Election Commission of India to re-include the said villages under Morigaon constituency.
