GUWAHATI: Unsuspecting visitors to Manas National Park in Assam were terrified when a rhinoceros unexpectedly appeared from a bush and began chasing their vehicle. It can only be described as every safari traveler's worst nightmare coming to life. The incident happened in the park's Ban Habari forest region.
A rhinoceros can be seen racing toward the vehicle in a scenario that was recorded on a safari visitor's phone camera. The rhino follows the car for a while before the driver accelerates quickly and overtakes it. The tourists were promptly escorted away.
The likelihood of seeing tigers, one-horned rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes in this region of the park is high, according to the Manas National Park website.
According to experts, this kind of incidence is caused by animals being uneasy about constant human movement in the forest.
As a top tourist destination, Manas National Park is growing in popularity; this year, more people visited the park during the final week of December.
Additionally, Rhino poaching is also increasing in the state. According to sources, A man who was previously wanted by the Assam police for rhino poaching was apprehended after almost a year of looking.
Abdul Matin, one of the primary perpetrators of the poaching of a rhino in Kaziranga National Park in January, was apprehended in the Darrang district of north-central Assam, according to Special Director-General of Police G.P. Singh.
After discovering evidence of their involvement in the killing and sawing off of the rhino's horn, the police offered a reward of 2 lakh rupees for information that resulted in the arrest of Matin and two other people. On January 19, the animal's carcass was discovered in the park.
Additionally, the proposal to give the state's tourist industry status was accepted earlier this week by the Assam state cabinet. The newly established strategy will enhance employment creation and public-private collaborations in addition to enabling environmentally responsible and sustainable investments in tourism infrastructure, revolutionising the way that Assam views travel.
