Assam Rifles distributes essential commodities in Silchar

SILCHAR: True to its motto of being 'Friends of Northeast,' 37 Assam Rifles apart from carrying on relentless campaign on awareness programme among urban and rural populace to keep them safe by enlightening them about the symptoms of COVID-19 and the precautionary measures. Assam Rifles as reported has been seen in action in Assam and Manipur. This has no doubt its salutary effect and people in general in hills, dales and plains, both tribal and non tribal, have been appreciative of it and yearning for more.

Today, Assam Rifles has undertaken yet another noble mission at a remote village of Harinagar, 30 kms from here, in Udharbond block of Cachar. Distribution of dry ration among the marginalised people brought smiles and cheers on their faces. A total of 35 villagers living from hand to mouth and affected by COVID pandemic were identified for the ration. They were given rice, pulses, flour and sugar, maintaining COVID protocol.

The Battalion was happy that the simple and hard pressed people received ration with all humility and humbleness and expected more such benevolence in coming days. This has also brought relief to them. The battalion did not disappoint them either. Rather, it assured them of all possible help in future. The Kadamtala Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 21 sector and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) has no doubt earned a place of honour in the hearts of people of Manipur and Assam.
