Silchar: The social and humanitarian services provided by Assam Rifles to people of different tribal and non tribal people are quite appreciable. The Kadamtala Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of headquarters 21 sector Assam Rifles (East) organised humanitarian assistance to local people and churches in the hills district of Dima Hasao on Friday. In all 25 people from remote villages of Mualien, Nutan Paisa and Bara Arkap and five churches in the district received the help on the eve of the great festival of Christmas.

The objective was to stand by people settled in remote villages to foster the spirit of goodwill and broaden rapport between the armed forces and tribal people. Even during the turbulent period of insurgency, Assam Rifles did not shy away from extending necessary help to those who needed it. This is also one of the reasons in hastening the process of peace and tranquillity in the hills and making people understand the evils of gun culture. The people appreciated the humanitarian works of Assam Rifles and hoped to get more such help in future too.
