Assam Rifles recovers huge cache of arms in Champhai district

SILCHAR: In a major successful operation against anti-national activities, Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered a cache of weapon, ammunition and other war-like stores on Sunday. The operation was carried out near Tyao Kawn village of Champhai district based on specific information.

An operation was launched by Assam Rifles personnels from Serchhip Battalion on Sunday. The team had a specific information of a possible dealing involving sale of WLS to PDF near village Tyao Kawn. The Assam Rifles team suspected arrival of the delivery of WLS and reacted to apprehended the individuals. The miscreants, however, escaped to Myanmar. They, however, left the bag on the spot containing war-like stores. Use of such war-like stores could have endangered the lives of innocent people and led to various illegal activities. The recoveries made were two 9 mm pistols, one 0.32 Revolver, 15 rounds of 0.32 revolver ammunition, seven hand grenades, two Tac Phone/ RS walkie talkie sets, one Tac Vest and one powerbank.
